Ross brings diverse experience working for the Canadian Federal Government at Service Canada and an immense passion for international relations, Indigenous studies, and Arctic security. Pursuing a master's degree in Brussels, Ross has demonstrated his willingness and appetite to learn outside of his national context and expand his understanding of global politics. He is also interested in establishing and building a stronger sense of Canada's relationship with Europe.

Samuel has worked in marketing within the renewable energy industry, served as a constituent liaison for U.S. Congressman Don Bacon, and contributed to policy writing at the Nebraska Department of Education. Samuel has distinguished himself as a dedicated and versatile individual, and is passionate about climate security, transatlantic relations, and international trade.

Nicolai Stuyvenberg

Nicolai specializes in global security and strategy, with academic focus areas including NATO, Europe–Japan security & defense relations, and the Indo-Pacific. He has previously worked in communications at an NGO promoting Norway-India bilateral relations. He has extensive international experience, and has lived in five countries, bringing an adaptable, globally informed perspective to the team.

Mr. Christopher Case is the senior intelligence analyst for Hybrid Threats and Emerging and Disruptive Technologies assessments at NATO’s Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE). He is a career intelligence officer with over twenty years’ experience in strategic, operational, and tactical analysis. Mr. Case served in the US Army for five years analyzing counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency topics and deployed to Iraq for sixteen months to directly support operations. 

As a civilian analyst for the US Defense Intelligence Agency, Mr. Case analyzed a variety of problem sets and twice deploying to Afghanistan to support NATO operations. He also provided support to NATO’s Operation Unified Protector in Libya in 2011 before assuming his current position with SHAPE in 2019. Mr. Case holds a Bachelor of Arts in international affairs from Vesalius College and a Master of Arts in international conflict and security at the University of Kent’s Brussels School of International Studies. He is currently a PhD candidate with Leiden University researching the military implications for NATO from biotechnologies and human enhancement.

Justin Mohn

Justin Mohn is a Capability and Armaments Officer in the International Staff at NATO Headquarters in Brussels, with a range of responsibilities from defence planning and capability development/delivery policy to adapting military capabilities to the changing realities of climate change and the energy transition. He’s been with NATO for six years, prior to which he served as a Non-Resident Research Intern focusing on adversary capabilities, innovative and disruptive technologies, and CBRN capabilities.


Justin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Missouri, a Master of Arts in Security Studies from Kansas State University, and is a PhD candidate with King’s College London researching the effectiveness of foreign military volunteers in modern warfare.

Julian Jacobsen is a Norwegian MA student studying Global Security and Strategy in Brussels. He is passionate about Nordic and Arctic security affairs. With hands on experience from the Norwegian military and Energy industry, he has proven himself proactive in acquiring competency and understanding of both traditional and hybrid security dynamics within the broader fields of National Security and International Relations.
